Project Accountant; Temporary Coverage

Accounting Temp Burnaby, BC $25 - $30 CAD per hour

Riada is a trusted technical partner across Western Canada and the Territories, representing respected manufacturers in air systems, hydronics, domestic water, and instrumentation. We support mechanical contractors, engineers, and building owners with technical sales, application support, and service coordination.

We're looking for a Project Accountant to provide short-term coverage for approximately 6–7 weeks. This role keeps project accounting and day-to-day transaction processing running smoothly during the coverage period, with a strong focus on project-level cost accuracy and support for an ongoing ERP transition.

Project accounting (primary focus): review and reconcile project-related invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments; work with project managers and operations to ensure accurate cost allocation and revenue recognition.

Accounting entries: post day-to-day transactions to the general ledger with accurate coding and supporting documentation; prepare journal entries and supporting schedules for month-end close under the direction of the Financial Controller.

ERP implementation support: participate in the transition to a new accounting/ERP system, including data entry, testing, and adoption of new processes.

Invoicing: process customer invoicing, collections follow-up, and accounts receivable reconciliation.

Reconciliations & audit support: complete bank and credit card reconciliations, and prepayment/accrual schedules for month-end.

Education & Experience:

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 1-3+ years of experience in project accounting, full-cycle bookkeeping, or a similar role, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or a project-based industry
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system transition or implementation is an asset

Core Competencies:

• Comfortable working independently and picking up new systems quickly given the short engagement window
• Strong Excel skills and general accounting software proficiency
• Understanding of cost allocation, revenue recognition, and month-end close processes
