We're currently looking for a Regular Full Time Road Assist Fleet & Auto Service Centre (ASC) Mechanic! This unique role helps keep BCAA moving by delivering high-quality, cost-effective maintenance and repairs on all BCAA owned fleet vehicles. You’ll ensure new ERS vehicles are ready for service and provide support to our Auto Service Centres when extra coverage is needed. This position works Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional weekend shifts.
Work takes place at either the BCAA Depot or our South Surrey ASC, a full-service automotive facility. As part of BCAA’s Mechanical Department, the Fleet Mechanic supports both the Emergency Roadside Service (ERS) Shop and ASC locations based on operational demand. This team maintains more than 125 fleet and management vehicles and is equipped to perform all levels of automotive repair.

- Complete high-quality repairs and routine maintenance on BCAA’s ERS fleet as assigned by the ERS Shop Manager.
- Service and repair Diesel, Gasoline, Hybrid/EV, and alternate fuel vehicles to BCAA’s safety and performance standards.
- Perform monthly safety checks and preventative maintenance on all ERS fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Build and prepare new ERS vehicles for service without impacting regular maintenance schedules.
- Fabricate, weld, and repair specialty equipment for service trucks, battery trucks, wheel lifts, flat decks, and mini deck tow vehicles.
- Maintain detailed work orders, including accurate parts and inventory tracking.
- Ensure waste materials are handled and disposed of in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Keep work areas clean, safe, and compliant with all BCAA operational and environmental standards.
- Tag and report equipment malfunctions promptly to the ERS Shop Manager or Safety representatives.
- Review tools and equipment regularly and provide recommendations for improvements or innovation.
- Maintain proper care and control of BCAA equipment, tools, and documentation.
- Stay current with advancements in automotive technology and repair methods.
- Complete mechanical repairs at the Auto Service Centre, including oil changes, tire services, and general automotive repairs.
- Safely move Member vehicles in the shop, parking areas, and service bays.
- Collaborate with Service Managers and team members to deliver an outstanding Member experience.
- Mentor apprentices and lube technicians to support accuracy, safety, and skill development.
- Perform work indoors or outdoors, including in inclement weather.
- Automotive Red Seal Certification with up-to-date training in modern automotive technologies.
- Minimum 3 years as a Journeyperson Technician and 5 years of related mechanical experience.
- Experience with automotive DMS systems, modern scan tools, and MS Office (Outlook, Teams).
- Demonstrated skills in welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record.
- Additional industry certifications are considered an asset.
- Preferred experience with diesel injection/fuel systems, 1‑ton to 5‑ton chassis, and alternative fuel vehicles.
