The Burnaby Art Gallery has a unique opportunity to join the Fine Arts programming team as a Fine Arts Leader, supporting its Visual Arts programming. This role assists in the planning, implementation and coordination of classes; evaluates current programs and recommends changes; acts as a resource person to Fine Arts instructors; assists in the selection, training, and evaluation of Fine Arts instructors.

You’ll also help prepare and maintain records, promotional materials, supply inventory, equipment maintenance and repair reporting, prep work, and volunteer coordination support. As a front-facing role you’ll be expected to develop effective working relationships with other staff, Fine Art instructors, artists, volunteers and community members. Performs additional related work as required.

To qualify: You’ll need to have completed a two-year Community College course in a Fine Arts specialty (such as Visual Art, Museum Studies or Printmaking), have teaching and related instructional experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You’ll be required to have sound knowledge of the principles, practices and materials associated with Visual Arts programming, i.e. organizing and maintaining supplies, studio spaces, and specialized equipment.

You will have the ability to teach varying ages with classroom management experience; have sound knowledge of community needs, interests and resources, and community engagement experience is an asset. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Pay Rate: $34.25 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

Location: Burnaby Art Gallery

Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts include Monday to Sunday between 8:00am – 10:30pm
