Burnaby Recreation Centre is seeking enthusiastic individuals to lead group Pilates and yoga classes for adults and seniors, focusing on no‑impact fitness, posture/alignment, proprioception, balance, core strength, flexibility, breath, and meditation.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Pilates and/or yoga classes.
- Plan and manage adult and senior group sessions.
- Assist with program coordinator communication, program/equipment set up and tear down.
- Maintain strong customer service and communication skills.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Relevant certifications: for Pilates—Physical Mind Institute, STOTT/Merritthew, Winsor Pilates or BCRPA Pilates. For Yoga—minimum 200 hours with Yoga Alliance.
- Minimum 6‑month prior experience leading Pilates and/or yoga.
- First Aid certification and CPR Level C (or preferred Red Cross or Life Saving Society).
- Valid Police Information Check (may be required).
- 500+ hours of training through Yoga Alliance.
- Chair Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Pilates with Props, Power Pilates, Standing Pilates.
- Experience with BARRE, Older Adult, and Osteofit.
- Yoga Instructor, Level 1 – $40.95 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
- Yoga Instructor, Level 2 – $46.81 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
- Pilates Instructor, Level 1 – $39.38 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
- Pilates Instructor, Level 2 – $50.64 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits.
- Additional 15 minutes per class for set up, take‑down, and customer service.
Various Burnaby locations. Hours and shifts vary; position may include on‑call shifts and may be canceled or modified.
