Job Summary Reporting and accountable to the Regional Medical Director (RMD) for Primary Care Integration.
Key Areas of Involvement- Effective Delivery of Clinical Services – Ensures that clinic physicians deliver services appropriately within the remit of the Urgent and Primary Care Centre
- Quality and Utilization Monitoring/Improvement – Ensures physician members of the clinic are engaged in multidisciplinary quality improvement and utilization management activities; ensures Family Physicians are engaged in reviews of expected standards of medical practice; investigates complaints regarding care provided by physicians working in the clinic, in collaboration with the RMD when appropriate.
- Administration – Attends meetings of the UPCC Medical Directors; provides a communication channel between Fraser Health leadership and clinic; recommends and contributes to policies and guidelines; promotes health and wellness among department members; encourages a respectful workplace; reviews physician resource requirements; contributes to the selection of new physician staff; resolves disputes and mediates disputes involving clinic physicians.
- Medical Legal Issues – Identifies potential liability issues and legal problems within the clinic and provides advice to the RMD and/or Legal Counsel.
- Current licensure with CPSBC and Canadian College of Family Physicians plus two (2) years leadership experience within the healthcare sector.
- Additional training in management preferred; prior academic leadership experience an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership to move organizational change in primary care.
- Sound working knowledge of running a primary care clinic including staffing, budgeting, quality improvement, and service delivery.
- Proven verbal, written communication and presentation skills within a leadership capacity.
The term of appointment as UPCC Medical Director shall be three (3) years, renewable by the RMD. In recommending re‑appointment, the RMD shall consider the results of annual performance reviews.
CompensationThe Physician will provide the Services outlined in Schedule A under this Agreement over 46 weeks out of each 12 month period. Based on the Health Employers Association of British Columbia Medical Leadership – Profiles & Compensation for Physicians, the FHA will pay the Physician an amount of $42,137.40 per annum plus GST where applicable. The amount is payable in twelve equal monthly instalments during the term of the Agreement.
ExpensesThe Physician, upon presentation of receipts, shall be reimbursed for expenses incurred while providing the Services, in accordance with FHA’s Travel and Business Expenses Policy.
Time CommitmentApproximately 7 hours per week (FTE: 0.2). Stipend.
