Overview
Alexander College is looking for dynamic and well-qualified faculty members to join us in building and developing a proposed Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence. This innovative degree is designed to equip students with practical, industry-aligned skills in applied AI and human-centered computing. The position advertised here requires expertise in software systems and engineering.

ScheduleClasses will eventually be scheduled Monday through Saturday, with allowance for two consecutive days off per week.

Qualifications- PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Alternatively, a Master’s with extensive industry/teaching experience may be considered).
- Demonstrated excellence in post-secondary teaching and course development.
- Proven ability to teach a range of systems-related and applied computing courses.
- Industry experience in system design, databases, cloud platforms, or secure infrastructure is a strong asset.

- Strong proficiency in spoken and written English.
Prior to program start-up, the emphasis will be on curriculum development and institutional service in the Alexander Innovation Centre. After program start-up, this faculty position involves a combination of teaching (.66 FTE) and research-based institutional service (.34 FTE).
Teaching Expectations Over the Long Term (.66 FTE)- Deliver up to 8 course sections annually (lectures and labs) once the program reaches steady state.
- Develop, revise, and maintain high-quality course content and assessments.
- Employ inclusive and innovative pedagogy, including project-based learning, applied and experiential learning, and flipped classrooms.
- Supervise senior-year student capstone projects and student groups.

- Contribute to research and development projects in the Alexander Innovation Centre under the guidance of the Director of Academic Innovation and Research
- Serve on departmental and institutional committees (curriculum, program review, etc.).
- Contribute to accreditation preparation (e.g., DQAB, CEAB, ministry reviews, industrial reviews, etc.).
- Support community outreach activities (e.g., tech meetups, coding camps, open-house days, etc.).
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion within the academic and tech community.
- Advocate for responsible and ethical use of AI in teaching, research, and design.
- Other service duties as specified.
