Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Piping

Please note:
This opportunity does have the potential of leading to full-time employment once the successful candidate has successfully completed a probationary period. Initial contract is for 3 months.

Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Classroom instruction to apprentice, entry-level or Industry Services students.
  • Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs.
  • Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas.
  • Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BC Trades Certificate of Qualification/Red Seal endorsement in the following:
    Plumber Gasfitter “Class B”
  • Additional qualifications enhancing your application but not required:
    Gasfitter “class A” Steamfitter/Pipefitter Sprinkler-fitter
  • Five years’ current work experience as a journeyperson in the Plumbing trade.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong desire to teach.
  • Effective command of the English language – both written and oral.
  • Experience working with apprentices in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop a collegial environment.
