Role Overview

Reporting to the Director of Career Education, the Career Coach will co‑design and lead a Life‑Design curriculum that modernizes the Career Education Centre into a research‑informed, developmentally sequenced program for undergraduate and graduate learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co‑design and advance a national Life‑Design framework that integrates academic learning, experiential education, and professional identity exploration.
  • Provide one‑on‑one and group coaching to students and alumni, helping them translate academic competencies into professional narratives, set goals, and develop resilience and career adaptability.
  • Support students in applying Life‑Design and design‑thinking methods to envision and test multiple career and life scenarios, using reflective practices, storytelling, micro‑experiments, and informational interviews.
  • Co‑create and co‑deliver curriculum and co‑curricular learning experiences; align program‑level activities with career‑readiness milestones and labour‑market expectations; design scalable workshops and micro‑learning sessions.
  • Partner with the Employer Engagement team to incorporate employer insights and alumni perspectives into coaching, preparation, and programming.
  • Design coaching approaches that honor diverse identities, promote equitable access, and strengthen belonging across campuses, jurisdictions, and delivery modes.
  • Track coaching engagement, collect feedback, and use data insights to continuously improve programs and support evidence‑based practice.
  • Stay current with Life‑Design, coaching, career‑development, and future‑of‑work research to inform program quality.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Organizational Leadership, Career Development, or a related field.
  • Professional coaching or career‑development certification (ICF, CCCD, Life‑Design) preferred.
  • Progressive experience in career coaching, student success, leadership development, or similar roles — ideally within higher education.
  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops, curricula, and digital learning resources for diverse learner populations.
  • Strong grounding in Life‑Design, design‑thinking, and career‑development theory.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and virtual presentation tools.
  • Solid project‑management skills: managing concurrent coaching caseloads, workshops, and institutional projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work across online and in‑person modalities, and to travel occasionally for institutional commitments.
Core Competencies
  • Exceptional communicator, adept at supporting diverse, distributed, and international learners.
  • Ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, employers, and alumni.
  • High organizational skill, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate tasks and track outcomes.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity with a focus on widening access and strengthening learner belonging.
  • Innovative, learner‑centred mindset rooted in curiosity, reflection, and continuous improvement.
