After School Care Supervisor
St. Michael's Elementary is seeking a dedicated and compassionate After School Care Supervisor to oversee and facilitate the daily operations of our after-school program. The ideal candidate will ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for students to engage in various activities, complete homework, and develop social skills in alignment with the school’s Catholic values.
This part-time position is typically from 3 PM to 6 PM Monday through Friday on days when the school is in session. Physical activity is required, including walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the safety and well‑being of students during after‑school hours. Monitor student activities to ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere.
Plan and facilitate engaging activities, including educational, recreational, and spiritual development programs. Assist students with homework and provide additional academic support as needed. Encourage positive social interactions among students through group activities and cooperative play.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents, teachers, and school administration. Provide regular updates to the Principal about program operations and student behaviour.
Keep accurate records of student attendance and incidents. Assist with the setup and cleanup of program spaces and materials.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred. Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting. Experience or coursework relating to working with children with diverse needs or abilities is an asset.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.
