Location: New Westminster
Be a key part of Douglas College's Accessibility Services team. As an Accessibility Specialist, you will work to remove barriers and provide essential support for students with disabilities in New Westminster, BC.
This role encompasses evaluating student requirements and planning appropriate accommodations for their courses. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with various stakeholders, ensuring that the learning environments are accessible and inclusive. The position allows for one day of hybrid work each week and engages with diverse student needs throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate student diagnostic and interview data for tailored accommodations
• Collaborate with students to understand their disability impacts
• Support faculty in facilitating accommodations in course content
• Manage confidential records related to accommodations
• Lead discussions to promote improved accessibility on campus
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Educational Psychology or related field
• Proven experience with disabilities in educational settings
• Skills in assessment and individual service planning
• Familiarity with privacy protection laws
• Effective communication abilities with diverse groups
