Teacher On-Call; TTOC

Overview

ST. THOMAS MORE COLLEGIATE invites applications for the position of Teacher Teaching On-Call (TTOC). The school is a progressive co-ed Blessed Edmund Rice Catholic Independent high school in Burnaby, B.C. The External TTOC list is for the  school year and includes teaching areas such as Applied Skills, Christian Education (Religion), English Language Arts, Fine & Performing Arts, French, Mathematics, Physical & Health Education, Science, and Social Studies.

You will be part of a cooperative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of our students (the Knights).

• Support the growth and development of students within a cooperative teaching team.
• Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school when possible.
• Deliver instruction in assigned subject areas in alignment with BC curriculum and school policies.
• Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress to parents as appropriate.
• Collaborate with staff, students, parents, and the community to support student success.
• Participate actively in the school community’s co- and extra-curricular activities.

• Must hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate, be in the process of applying, or be eligible for an Independent School Teaching Certificate.
• Undergraduate degree in a teachable area.
• Comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in BC Ministry of Education documents.
• Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build collaborative and effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Foster supportive relationships with students and families.
• Implement a range of authentic learning assessments with timely feedback and clear directions for parents.
• Knowledge of differing learning needs and a toolbox of strategies for facilitating student success.
• Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal, and relationship skills.
• Active and positive participation in the co- and extracurricular life of STMC.
