The Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts (LLPA) is seeking one co-coordinator for the ELLA Department. The position takes effect on August 17, 2026 for an initial one year term with the possibility of an extension for an additional two years. There are 2 sections of time release available for the academic year.
Reporting to the Dean of LLPA, the two ELLA co-coordinators provide joint leadership to the ELLA Department by working together to facilitate its operation; ensure effective planning, development and delivery of courses and immersion programs; work collaboratively with Douglas International; and represent the Department in the Faculty, the College, and the community.
The successful applicant will work with colleagues in ELLA and across LLPA, and liaise with Enrolment Services Staff, Douglas International, the Dean's Office, the TESL Coordinator, and other College units as needed. The co-coordinators will share the following responsibilities:
- Convene and chair department meetings
- Attend and participate in FEC and DAC meetings
- Ensure timely communication with the Dean's Office, the department, and external parties
- Oversee the allocation and scheduling of faculty work, as delegated by the Dean
- Ensure the smooth running of immersion programs
- Contribute to elements of immersion programs other than ELLA instruction (relating to sociocultural activities, labs, etc.), as required
- Address emergent concerns, when required and in compliance with the College Agreement and College policy
The successful candidate will be a current regular ELLA faculty member with at least two (2) years of FTE service. The successful applicant will have the following:
- Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet targets and deadlines
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with relevant College policies, procedures and Collective Agreements
Previous successful experience coordinating programs, projects or activities in a leadership role will be considered an asset.
