Position Title:

Education Assistant, In-Home & In-Class Regent Christian Academy Society serves children and families across our campus schools, online school, and early learning programs. As a key division of the Society, Regent Christian Online Academy (RCOA) specializes in partnering with home-learning families to provide a flexible, high-quality K-12 education.

Key Responsibilities for IN-CLASS ( Mondays & Fridays: 8:30 - 2:30 ):
Overview:
Educational Assistants are key members of our dynamic classroom teams. They assist in our inclusive classrooms to ensure all students, including those with disabilities, are supported and benefit from learning activities and instruction. They will also help the classroom teacher with a variety of organization tasks, such as taking attendance, preparing learning materials, physically preparing the learning environment, and directing small groups.

Key Responsibilities for IN-HOME (Days flexible):

Overview:
As the EA, you will play a vital role in carrying out pre-planned lessons and life skills activities that cater to the unique requirements of your students. Your dedication and commitment will be instrumental in helping students with therapy follow-up, engaging them in home learning activities and virtual programming, and collaborating effectively as part of a cohesive team. The children have a range of learning and behavioural needs that require a compassionate and flexible EA.

As an EA, you will receive support from therapists, a home learning support teacher, parents, and our Special Education Coordinator. This collaborative environment will enable you to thrive in your role and make a significant difference in the lives of your students. Core Competencies - Model a Christian Walk:
Serve as a safe, trusted, and supportive adult, modelling an exemplary Christian walk in speech and action as a living example to the student body.

- Foster Student Independence:
Provide academic, social, emotional, and spiritual support by skillfully scaffolding tasks to encourage maximum student independence.

- Advocate for Inclusion:
Actively advocate for student inclusion within the classroom according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and create opportunities for students to be meaningfully integrated into the school community.

- Develop Self-Advocacy:
Guide students in gaining the necessary skills to advocate for their own learning preferences and personal needs.

- Provide Unstructured Support:
Deliver critical social-emotional and self-regulation supports during transitions and Recess to ensure student well-being outside of formal instruction.

- Execute Interventions:
Implement specific interventions and supports as mandated by the IEP and School-Based Team (SBT).

- Lead Targeted Instruction:
Facilitate small group instruction and scripted programming during both instructional time and break periods under the direction of the teacher.

- Prepare Materials:
Assist in preparing lesson materials and adaptations specifically related to identified student needs, as guided by the Teacher or Inclusive Education Coordinator (IEC), if time permits.

- Supervise Routines:
Supervise learning and classroom management routines with authority and diligence, following the direction of teachers or administration.

- Contribute to IEPs:
Attend IEP meetings and provide professional observations and data to inform the development of goals and desired student outcomes.

- Collect Evidence of Learning:
Gather evidence of student progress to assist teachers in assessment and the generation of IEP progress reports.

- Maintain Documentation:
Rigorously contribute to logs and data collection for students with behaviour plans or specialized requirements.

- Pursue Professional Growth:
Proactively develop expertise in specialized areas and pedagogical frameworks, such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), to support diverse learners.

- Engage in Self-Assessment:
Conduct regular self-assessments of job performance and maintain a portfolio of evidence regarding personal and professional growth.

- Faith Integration:
Model a profound love for Christ and students, maintaining a high standard of Christian conduct both during and outside of school hours. Target
