Indigenous Education Support Teacher

Location: new westminster

Join School District No. 40 as an Indigenous Success Teacher dedicated to supporting Indigenous learners in New Westminster. This role emphasizes instructional leadership and community collaboration.
You will report to the District Principal of Indigenous Education and Equity, working alongside various teams to enhance Indigenous student attendance, engagement and academic outcomes. Your responsibilities include implementing culturally responsive practices and supporting family and community engagement to create impactful learning experiences. Through collaborative efforts, you will aim to address the unique challenges faced by Indigenous students and foster their success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support to Indigenous students

• Collaborate with educators on intervention strategies

• Use data assessment for targeted educational planning

• Build trust-based relationships with students and families

• Engage in district-wide cultural events
Requirements:

• Completion of a recognized teaching program

• Active BC Teaching Certificate

• Proven experience with Indigenous students

• Understanding of Indigenous cultural contexts

• Excellent communication and organizational skills
