The Burnaby School District is looking for an experienced Deaf Studies/ASL Teacher. Ideal candidates will hold a valid BC teaching certificate and a Bachelor of Education Degree. A master's degree in Deaf education or CAEDHH certification is preferred for this role, along with required ASL fluency that enhances student engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruct students in Deaf Studies and American Sign Language
• Promote strong self-identity and learning outcomes
• Collaborate effectively with school staff and community
• Engage in continuous professional development
• Participate in school events to support inclusion
Requirements:
• Valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility
• Bachelor of Education or equivalent educational background
• Master’s qualifications or CAEDHH certification preferred
• Fluency in American Sign Language
• Commitment to inclusive education practices
Support the educational journey of Deaf and hard of hearing students, fostering their growth at the BC Provincial School for the Deaf.
