Education Assistant Casual Position

Location: New Westminster

Become a Casual Education Assistant with New Westminster Schools, providing essential support to students in their classrooms. Engage directly with students to enhance their learning experience and provide personal care assistance as needed.

This role reports to the school principal and involves direct supervision of students in diverse settings. You will assist students with adaptive skills and develop modified educational materials tailored to their needs. This can include opportunities for short-term assignments with the potential for permanent placement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct educational support to students in classrooms

• Supervise and assist students in various settings

• Prepare adapted educational materials as required

• Offer personal care assistance, including feeding and toileting

• Implement care plans for students supported by Nursing Services

Requirements:

• Grade 12 graduation required

• Education Assistant certificate or 2-year diploma preferred

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training necessary

• Special education or child care experience valued

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
