Student Engagement Advisor at SFU

Enhance student experiences at Simon Fraser University as a Student Engagement Advisor. Collaborate on recruitment initiatives and provide academic support primarily for first and second-year students.

As an Advisor/Student Engagement and Retention Coordinator, you will work within the School of Communication in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology. Your essential role includes developing strategies to boost retention and student engagement while coordinating events that create a cohesive community. Additionally, you'll oversee student ambassadors and foster leadership among undergraduate groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement student engagement strategies

• Provide academic advising to undergraduates in first and second year

• Coordinate student retention initiatives and events

• Recruit and mentor student ambassadors and volunteers

• Foster collaborative relationships with faculty and external organizations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Arts or Communication

• Three years of relevant experience in student programming

• Strong knowledge of undergraduate admissions and graduation processes

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to independently lead student initiatives
