EDUCATION ASSISTANT (Casual)

The Burnaby School District is seeking qualified Education Assistants for on-call assignments.

The Education Assistant provides support, under the direction of a designated educator, for students in and out of the classroom and in the community. This includes support such as behaviour management, curriculum implementation, social skills development, personal care, and physical assistance.

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of a one year minimum recognized program in special needs assistance or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a full range of students with special needs.
• Working knowledge of adaptive/assistive technology related to work performed
• Working knowledge of computer operation and software applications related to work performed.
• Thorough knowledge of safety procedures related to work performed.
• Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
• Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job.
• Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.

This position pays $37.25 per hour.
