Location: New Westminster
Shape the future of literature education as an English Instructor at Douglas College. This role invites passionate educators skilled in academic writing and literature to foster student engagement.
Douglas College’s English Department is seeking three probationary regular instructors focused on teaching first- and second-year courses. Ideal candidates should possess innovative pedagogy around Indigenous literatures, gender, and world literature. This role entails crafting learner-centered course outlines and maintaining currency in the field through regular professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop comprehensive course outlines and teaching materials
• Deliver engaging and effective learner-centered instruction
• Hold regular office hours for student support
• Participate in curriculum development and departmental meetings
• Engage in community of practice for continuous improvement
Requirements:
• Master’s degree in English Literature or equivalent (Ph.D. preferred)
• Minimum 2 years’ teaching experience in post-secondary education
• Commitment to professional development activities
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience in specialized areas such as gender studies or Indigenous literatures
