Position: Project Coordinator (Fire Alarm)

Sasco Contractors Ltd, serves the industrial, commercial, and institutional markets all over BC, specializing in distribution upgrades, commercial one-off new builds, tenant improvements, server rooms and data communication in mission critical environments, complicated fire alarm upgrades, EV car charges, and electrical service and maintenance. We work in a fast-paced, unionized environment, local to Burnaby and surrounding areas, with other offices in Kamloops & Vancouver Island.

You’ll help us keep electrical construction projects organized, moving, and delivered with accuracy. Your work ensures our field teams have what they need; our customers stay informed, and projects close smoothly. In short, focus will be on delivering excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Project Initiation & Planning
  • Set up new jobs in required project management systems.
  • Organize customer setup, deposits, supplier POs, and shop drawing distribution.
  • Prepare site manuals and ensure field teams have latest drawings.
Project Coordination & Execution
  • Assist PMs with schedules, meeting setup, and meeting minutes.
  • Process the change requests and update documentation.
  • Order materials, track deliveries/backorders, and coordinate with vendors.
  • Maintain strong communication and working relationships with all project partners (subcontractors, suppliers, internal teams, and site staff).
  • Prepare job boards with project specific documents, including submitting notice of project.
  • Conduct occasional site visits.
Project Monitoring
  • Track RFIs, change orders, and material status.
  • Follow up on permits, renewals, and approvals as needed.
Project Close-Out
  • Prepare close-out packages (manuals, as-builts, reports).
  • Arrange final permits/inspections and finalize service work orders.
  • Ensure POs are closed, documents are filed, and the job is ready for financial close.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Minimum of 2-years experience coordinating construction or electrical projects. Experience with in fire alarm upgrade projects in industrial, commercial, or electrical construction environments is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field is preferred.
  • Has Red seal certification or pursuing for PMP is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and project/document management systems. Experience with Sharepoint, Site Max, Site Docs or related tools is an asset.
  • Ability to read basic electrical/construction drawings is an asset.
  • Willingness to learn standards and codes for fire protection systems is an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, analytical & problem-solving skills.
