What you’ll do
  • Identifying quality risks and developing mitigation plans.
  • Scoping work and defining QA deliverables.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensuring completion of quality plans.
  • Oversee Quality

    Activities:

    • Review inspection and test plans and contractor submittals.
    • Witness testing (including factory acceptance tests) and verify compliance with standards and specifications.
    • Lead factory or site construction audits.
    • Initiate and resolve non-conformities.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineering, supply chain, contract management, construction management, and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and QA requirements.
  • Deliver Documentation and Reviews:
    • Prepare clear, concise reports, memos, and project quality plans.
    • Review work prepared by others for accuracy and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Support Procurement and Supplier Oversight:
    • Participate in strategic sourcing events.
    • Define evaluation criteria, assess proposals, and conduct supplier evaluations and surveillance.
  • Provide Leadership: Guide Quality Assurance inspectors and support professional development of engineers and technical staff.
What you bring
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (recognized by Canadian Universities and accredited by Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to summarize complex issues for specific audiences.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:
    • Hydroelectric or electric utility operations.
    • Transmission tower fabrication and testing.
    • Civil/structural design concepts and interpretation of drawings and specifications.
    • Concrete mix design, test, and repair methodologies.
    • Concrete inspections, soil sampling and testing, and compaction analysis.
    • Concrete foundations: rebar, formwork, placement, inspection, and test.
    • Caissons, helical pile foundations, screw piles: installation, inspection, and test.
    • Pre-cast materials: design and test.
    • Structural steel, welding practices, and inspections.
    • Quality Assurance methods, specifically those related to construction.
    • Public procurement processes.
    • Understanding of project management, design, and contract management processes.
    • Navigating conflicting business, project, and technical requirements.

  • Travel may be required based on business needs.
  • This position is hybrid (minimum 2 days of the week will be in the office)

  • A written exam may be used as part of the candidate evaluation process.
  • Candidates with fewer than 8 years of experience and/or do not possess the full qualifications may be considered for a lower position appropriate to their level of experience.
