We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician Co‑Op Student. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go‑getters. This is a full‑time position based in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician Co‑Op is responsible for supporting the Laboratory through tasks such as sample preparation, testing, analysis, reporting and helping maintain overall cleanliness of the lab to ensure its smooth and safe operation.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the daily operation of the laboratory, including safety audits and maintenance.
  • Carrying out assigned laboratory projects and other related development activities.
  • Performing quality control testing on incoming materials.
  • Maintaining and organizing accurate test and inventory records.
  • Assisting in the development and refining of testing procedures and methodologies.
  • Assisting with and organizing small scale test equipment set‑up.
  • Maintaining and organizing accurate test records and preparing technical reports.
  • Ordering, receiving, and shipping of various laboratory equipment and supplies.
What You Will Bring Technical and Industry Experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and working with laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve with equipment/test set‑up.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively multitask.
  • Ability to work to manage work‑load under time constraints to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving items up to 30 lbs in weight.
Required Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
  • Attending accredited university at Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or technical program.
  • Experience in a lab environment conducting tests.
  • MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding safety and being safety minded.
  • Experience with instrumentation and programming is an asset.

This position is only available to current Canadian university students under Co‑Op program. The candidates should be qualified under this program and refer by the university Co‑Op office. Please do not apply if you are not under Co‑Op program.

This position is on‑site work, and no remote work is possible. Major part of the work is hands‑on work ranging from using tools to build or maintain the unit to performing chemical analysis by titration, spectrophotometer, etc.
