Maintenance Mechanical Engineer (EIT) – Contract
We’re supporting a major utility client on the search for a Maintenance Mechanical Engineer (EIT) to support equipment maintenance and commissioning activities within electricity generation facilities. This is a hands‑on role with strong exposure to real assets, field coordination, and reliability‑focused engineering work.
What You’ll Be Doing- Support equipment maintenance and commissioning activities across utility generation assets
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
, including procedures, instructions, record forms, and spare parts selection - Review and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical documentation to understand system operation, failure modes, and prevention strategies
- Perform engineering studies of limited scope
, applying established methods and procedures - Assist with more complex engineering work under the guidance of senior professional engineers
- Coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, and regulatory/compliance groups
- Conduct periodic on‑site quality control and monitoring to ensure work meets design and engineering standards
- Manage multiple competing tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Registered EIT
- Ability to work hybrid (in‑office presence required)
- Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in equipment maintenance and/or commissioning
, or equivalent - Experience in a power utility, heavy industrial, or oil & gas environment is strongly preferred
- Strong ability to read and understand drawings and manuals
, articulate how systems work, how they fail, and how failures can be prevented through design or maintenance - Strong multitasking, prioritization, decision‑making, and conflict‑resolution skills
- Compressed air systems (compressors, dryers, valves, receivers)
- Water passage gates & valves (hydraulic and motor‑actuated)
- Cranes and hoists
- Hydraulic oil systems
- Exposure to Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Experience coordinating across engineering, field, and compliance teams
