DescriptionAs a P&C (Protection & Control) Asset Management Engineer, you will act as a senior technical lead applying specialized engineering knowledge for our client’s electrical grid infrastructure. You will provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium-complexity projects and operations. Your primary focus will be ensuring that P&C assets are managed safely, remain highly reliable, and are maintained within budget and on schedule.
Accountabilities- Engineering Solutions:
Develop safe and innovative engineering designs for P&C systems. You will analyze complex technical problems and interpret specifications to support both new capital projects and ongoing operations. - Asset Strategy:
Utilize risk-based maintenance principles to improve the reliability and safety of substation and transmission line assets. - Project Lifecycle Management:
Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, and quality targets. This includes proposing plan adjustments, estimating costs, recommending contractor payments, and preparing technical progress reports. - Problem Resolution:
Resolve highly technical and unusual field engineering issues. You will conduct independent studies and exercise professional judgment to recommend designs that support successful grid operations. - Standards & Mentorship:
Contribute to the evolution of ’s technical standards. You will provide guidance and technical advice to junior engineering professionals to help build future internal capability. - Compliance:
Ensure all work adheres to ’s Professional Practice Management Plan and Quality Management Pillar.
- 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong understanding of P&C fundamentals in relations to utility substations and transmission lines
- Demonstrated experience in developing P&C design/planning/maintenance standards
- Demonstrated experience in improving reliability and safety based upon risk and mitigation principles, and working knowledge of risk-based maintenance strategies.
- Nice to haves:
- Experience in application of IEEE 61850 and digital substations is considered a key asset
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s or advance degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities.
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
- Intermediate to advanced English skills (written and spoken) for a professional corporate environment.
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
