As a major projects Estimator, you will be responsible for managing an estimating team on major projects, preparing and coordinating RFP’s and cost estimates for technically diverse and challenging projects, acting as a liaison to clients, subcontractors and vendors and reviewing and submitting tenders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and SOQs to assess project requirements and risks
Manage proposal work plans to develop winning, competitive and compliant bids
Support the business development process
Manage relationships with the owner, designers, JV/alliance partners, as well as internal teams
Review and analyze alternative technical solutions, value engineering options, and project schedules to optimize proposals
Attend pursuit meetings, client meetings, pre-bid conferences and lead external & internal presentations of proposals and estimates
Conduct an estimate risk analysis and present the project execution plan and estimate details via a bid review meeting
Work as Norland Estimate Lead on joint venture pursuits (RFQs and RFPs) in cooperation with partner companies
Assist with contract negotiations by providing detailed cost breakdowns
Manage the handover of project estimates to the project management team for successful project execution
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management is preferred
Minimum of 7 years’ estimating and cost control related experience in heavy civil construction projects
Well versed in contractual agreements and risk assessment
Technical knowledge and experience bidding unit price & design-build and PPP projects is an asset
Thorough knowledge (ideally hands-on application) in the construction of utility civil work, earthwork, surface roadwork, on large high-profile and complex heavy civil projects similar in scope to our project portfolio
Creative and innovative solution mindset
Strong knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, InEight, HCSS, B2W are strongly desired
Compensation
The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary range of $125,000-$150,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience. Norland offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary, extended health and dental plans with premiums full paid by the company, as well as paid time off and RRSP matching.
