Job Description
Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) delivers industry‑leading performance, reliability, and security in storage controllers, memory controllers, NVMe SSD controllers, PCIe switches, and SAS expanders that are applied in cloud storage and compute data centers, and storage area networks.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician to support our Validation team with multiple projects in various stages of development. Our world‑class team is responsible for functional validation of new silicon devices featuring cutting‑edge technology.
As part of project requirements, the team designs validation boards to enable silicon testing. As a Senior Technician, you will be responsible for part procurements, purchasing, communication and coordination with external suppliers for the fabrication and assembly of these complex PCBs.
Technicians are also responsible for initiating and tracking equipment purchase orders, ensuring all items are delivered, distributed and deployed to the labs in a coordinated fashion, and invoices reviewed and approved for payment.
As a Senior Technician, you will also be responsible for keeping day‑to‑day operations of the validation labs running efficiently and providing assistance to validation team members as needed. A wide variety of technical, organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary to meet the demands of the position.
This is a temporary contract position for 12 months.
Responsibilities
Guide board builds through the entire flow including PCB fabrication, BOM procurement, board assembly and coordinate with third‑party vendors.
Perform rework and modification (including soldering) of circuit boards down to 0201 component size.
Lab / test equipment set up, calibration, maintenance and configuration.
Equipment purchasing and RMA handling.
Track lab and test equipment inventory across multiple labs.
Support validation team engineers and test infrastructure.
Requirements / Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a similar lab technician/technologist role.
Diploma of Technology in Electronics.
Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication, and documentation skills.
Familiar with electronic lab/test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, multimeters).
Experienced in fine‑pitch SMD soldering, rework processes, ECOs, change tracking, etc.
Understanding of board schematic and layout files and the related file viewers.
Knowledge of the PCB manufacturing process.

Pay Range

The hourly pay range for this position is $61,000–$92,000.
