Technical Lead, Water Treatment Engineer

Position Details:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the modeling and simulation of water treatment processes, utilizing advanced computational tools and techniques.
  • Ensure designs comply with all applicable environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct assessments and identify areas for improvement in existing water treatment systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement innovative water treatment solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, clients, and community members, to discuss project developments and compliance matters.
  • Assist with the planning and pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Use creativity, foresight and mature judgment to anticipate and solve unprecedented technical problems.
  • Provide visible industry and technical leadership within and outside of AECOM.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in water treatment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia (or eligible to become registered within 12 months).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in water treatment engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of water quality standards, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience understanding client challenges and developing practical engineering solutions.
  • Master’s degree in a related field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in water treatment modeling software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of local, provincial, and federal regulations related to water treatment and quality.
  • AWWA certifications or other relevant water treatment specialties preferred.
  • Travel as needed for project site visits and client meetings.
