Job Description

AECOM is seeking a junior environmental risk assessor to join our Canada Remediation team. This entry‑level role supports human health and ecological risk assessment, site investigation, and remediation projects.

The successful candidate will work within a team of risk assessors, scientists and engineers under the supervision of professional scientists, engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support environmental risk assessments, including data compilation, analysis, and documentation.

  • Assist with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including field sampling, and reporting.

  • Compile and review environmental laboratory data (soil, groundwater, vapour, sediment, surface water, etc.), evaluate quality concerns, maintain chain of custody, and compare relative to regulatory standards and screening benchmarks for use in site investigation and risk assessment.

  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, tables, figures, and appendices.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

The selected candidate will have the following qualifications, at a minimum:

  • B.Sc. in Toxicology, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Public Health, or related discipline;
    Master's is preferred

  • 2 years of relevant environmental consulting experience (or equivalent post-graduate experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to details and commitment to quality.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,).

  • Familiarity with database/data management principles.

  • Proficiency in statistical methods and data visualization for environmental data.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment, take pride and ownership of work deliverables, and take direction from senior staff.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct fieldwork.
