Senior Engineer Substation Design

Position: Senior Engineer for Substation Design - BC Hydro
Drive engineering excellence at BC Hydro as a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer specializing in substation projects. This full-time role is critical for the development of new and upgraded transmission facilities throughout British Columbia.
In this position, you will be instrumental in designing and analyzing civil and structural components for key electrical infrastructure. Registered as a Professional Engineer, you will use advanced modeling techniques and collaborate closely with diverse engineering teams. Your leadership will foster growth in junior staff while ensuring all design work meets stringent industry standards and safety codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed structural analysis for substation components

• Lead design reviews and modifications for existing structures

• Generate project documentation including specifications and cost estimates

• Conduct field reviews to support construction activities

• Manage compliance with engineering practices and standards
Requirements:

• Recognized Civil Engineering degree with EGBC credentials

• 8 years of progressive civil/structural design experience

• Familiarity with design and analysis software tools

• Effective communicator with strong report writing abilities

• Self-motivated with problem-solving aptitude
