Job Description
As part of our continued growth, AECOM is seeking a Water Treatment Engineer/EIT to join our BC Water Team. This new role is well suited to an early career engineer who is interested in developing practical, applied water treatment expertise while working under the guidance of experienced technical leaders.
This position may be based in Kelowna, Burnaby, or Victoria ; however,
there is a strong preference for this role to be located in Kelowna to support the ongoing growth and long-term development of our Interior BC water practice. The successful candidate will contribute to water treatment studies, evaluations, and designs that support safe, resilient, and sustainable communities across British Columbia.
- Support planning, studies, and design tasks for municipal drinking water treatment facilities and related infrastructure, under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Gather, organize, and analyze basic engineering and water quality data using established procedures and tools.
- Perform routine engineering calculations and assist with process evaluations and modeling for drinking water systems.
- Identify discrepancies in data, calculations, or results and communicate findings to senior team members.
- Assist with preparation of technical memoranda, reports, figures, and supporting documentation for municipal clients and regulatory review.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Deliver assigned work in accordance with agreed scope, budget, and schedule, with moderate supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience , or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in water, wastewater, or environmental engineering.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in British Columbia, or intent to pursue registration.
- Master’s or PhD degree in a related field with a focus on water treatment or drinking water quality.
- Academic research, thesis work, or applied project experience related to water treatment processes.
- Exposure to water treatment modeling, pilot studies, or laboratory analyses.
- Familiarity with Canadian drinking water quality guidelines or municipal drinking water systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career supporting municipal infrastructure and public-sector water projects.
- Expertise in water treatment modeling software and data analysis tools.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $70000 to $ .
