Specialist Engineer – P&C Commissioning

Raise is currently hiring permanent, Specialist Engineer – P&C Commissioning on behalf of our client.

Description

The P&C Project Engineering and Commissioning team is seeking a Specialist Commissioning Engineer. In this high‑impact role, you will act as the Professional of Record (PoR), ensuring that P&C devices and systems are fully integrated, tested, and accepted before entering the grid. You will bridge the gap between complex design and field operations, providing the technical oversight necessary to maintain a safe and reliable electric system.

This position is ideal for a professional who thrives on troubleshooting, enjoys an agile work style, and is comfortable leading cross‑functional teams through the final stages of the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Do
  • Technical Leadership & Oversight
  • Subject Matter Expertise:
    Serve as the primary SME for P&C commissioning activities across major projects.
  • Professional Accountability:
    Prepare, sign, and seal engineering deliverables as the Professional of Record (PoR) in compliance with EGBC and practices.
  • Technical Lead:
    Provide guidance and coaching to team members, helping them resolve complex technical issues and advance their professional work.
  • Standards Maintenance:
    Establish, maintain, and enhance commissioning standards, engineering processes, and quality assurance workflows.
  • Project Execution & Commissioning
  • Staging & Planning:
    Coordinate and oversee the development of P&C staging plans in collaboration with various engineering teams and the Control Center.
  • System Testing:
    Lead the testing and commissioning of specialized P&C equipment and complex systems.
  • Field Support:
    Work closely with field resources to verify test results and provide real‑time technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Constructability Reviews:
    Participate in design and constructability reviews to ensure project requirements are met safely and efficiently.
  • Strategic Collaboration
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Chair meetings to address engineering challenges and influence both internal teams and external delivery partners.
  • Risk Mitigation:
    Proactively identify technical risks and develop customized solutions that balance value, benefit, and risk to the system.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Support department objectives by developing performance measurements and contributing to the technical evolution of the division.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Designation:
    Registered (or eligible for immediate registration) as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience in transmission power systems, industrial control systems, cybersecurity, or systems engineering.
  • 4 years specifically leading P&C commissioning on medium to large‑scale projects.
  • Technical Assets:
    Strong background as a P&C Designer or Settings Engineer is highly valued. Knowledge of ’s project delivery processes and design practices is a significant asset.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to coordinate multi‑discipline projects and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with EGBC quality management guidelines and ethics. Ability to pass pre‑qualification alcohol and drug testing for this safety‑sensitive role.
