Electrical Distribution Design Technologist

The Electrical Design Technologist is responsible for providing cost estimates and design solutions for a diverse range of underground and overhead electrical distribution projects. Reporting to the Team Lead, Distribution Design, you will communicate directly with clients and customers to establish service requirements and provide design decisions that meet client needs.

• Design distribution infrastructure to meet the project requirements.
• Develop design solutions that meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations.
• Develop project cost estimates and material lists.
• Manage external client relationships through effective and timely communication.
• Monitor project progress and take action to meet client requirements.
• Travel and perform site visits as required.
• Identify potential safety or environmental concerns and initiate appropriate action.
• Coordinate designs with various third‑party stakeholders and facilitate approvals.
• Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants.

• Eligible or registered as a C.E.T. in Canada (an asset).
• Effective interpersonal, written and verbal skills to ensure clear communication.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
• Robust time‑management and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated project‑management skills, setting priorities and completing work within given timelines.
• Knowledge of PLSCAD or SPIDACalc (asset).
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

• Electrical Engineering technology diploma.
• Minimum of three years of experience designing power‑utility infrastructure within North America.
• Prior experience with BCHydro (strongly preferred).

Pay Range – Locations in Lower Mainland – BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario: $61,900.00 – $86,700.00 Annually. Compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
