Job Description

This position is a Junior Engineer in Microchip’s Data Center Solutions Business Unit (DCS) functional validation group, focusing on PCI Express (PCIe) and Non‑Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) products. The role involves board development, silicon and system validation of Microchip’s NVMe Flash controller and PCIe switch products, ensuring functional specifications, system interoperability, performance measurement, and post‑silicon debugging.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, code, and execute silicon and system validation plans.
  • Perform system‑level debug of silicon hardware and software issues.
  • Build and support validation infrastructure through embedded software, device drivers, and test tools.
  • Develop scripts such as Python and Tcl/Tk and troubleshoot complex problems in embedded multi‑core SOCs.
  • Write RTL code for CPLDs/FPGAs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • New college graduates (0–2 years) accepted; candidates with 2–5 years of experience may be considered for Engineer II level.
  • Experience with scripting (Tcl, Python) and proficiency in C/embedded C programming.
  • Excellent knowledge of digital systems and computer architecture.
  • Ability to develop functional validation plans and create supporting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:
Knowledge of PCI/PCI Express system architecture; familiarity with storage interfaces (NVMe); experience developing device drivers for Windows or Linux; experience using lab equipment such as protocol analyzers; high‑speed digital design skills.

Compensation

Annual base salary range: $86,000 – $186,000. The full compensation package includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonuses, health benefits, retirement savings plans, and an industry‑leading IESPP program.
