Job Description AECOM is looking for a Construction Engineer - Electrical to provide technical support, quality assurance, and Electrical inspection services during the construction phase of the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant project. The ideal candidate will have at least 4+ years of field experience with a strong background in multi-disciplinary projects, particularly in water and wastewater treatment plants. This role requires both site inspection expertise and technical Electrical design knowledge, including proficiency in Electrical code and software.
This position is based on site, in North Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities Conduct Electrical inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, electrical and building codes.
Provide technical support and engineering guidance to construction teams to resolve on-site issues.
Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and field modifications for Electrical components.
Perform quality assurance checks on materials and workmanship, ensuring adherence to contract documents.
Monitor and document construction progress, non-conformances, and corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, including municipal and provincial building and electrical codes.
Support project close-out activities, including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation.
Proficient with the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association, Canadian Building Code), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and experience in building (fire alarm and communication) systems.
Qualifications P.Eng. certification within Canada
Bachelor's degree in a related field with minimum 4+years of Electrical field experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, or site engineering
Preferred Experience 8+years of Electrical field experience in construction inspection, quality assurance, or site engineeringor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Strong technical knowledge in Electrical design and familiarity with relevant codes (NBC, CSA, ACI standards). Ability to work with ETAP,Easy Power and design tools such as AutoCAD and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P&IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary projects
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Excellent problem-solving skills to address site-related challenges efficiently.
Strong communication skills to liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Proficiency in inspection reporting, documentation, and construction monitoring tools.
Experience conducting Electrical condition assessments and field investigations.
Experience with Metro Vancouver engineering standards is a strong asset.
