Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This is administrative and technical work performed in the Civic Projects Division. The work involves project liaison and coordination of design and construction work for a variety of buildings, sport field, parks, parks’ roads, parking and facilities; the preparation of various reports, project specifications, schedules, and budgets; and field inspection of work performed. Further duties include assisting in the management of specific projects;
attending all project committee meetings as a resource person; reviewing plans and working drawings for conformance to project guidelines and established standards; reviewing all invoices, change orders, and other payment claims for accuracy; investigating discrepancies, and recommending approval or other actions. Conducts field inspections; ensures that all work performed is in accordance with contractual terms and established regulations; arbitrates minor disputes regarding contract interpretations, construction practices, standards, and methods;
reviews and advises on proposed changes; monitors and assesses project progress including cost, schedule, risk, resourcing. Assists in the preparation of Requests for Proposals, compiling different contracts, preparing presentations, leading various processes. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Building Technology or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in project management plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Thorough knowledge of building costs, materials, methods, and practices as related to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of applicable architectural design and construction principles and practices and engineering practices and procedures;
different delivery models and associated construction contracts, and B.C. Building Code, zoning and related municipal legislation governing the work performed. Ability to coordinate the design process, construction work, and scheduling for civic buildings and facilities; to act as a liaison and coordinator for specific design and construction projects; to review, analyze, assess and interpret related plans, specifications, contracts and other material;
to deal effectively and tactfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts; and to prepare and maintain related reports, records, and correspondence. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
