Join the City of Burnaby as a Plan Checker 1 or 2, positions that focus on ensuring building code compliance while contributing to urban development.
In this role, you will review building plans for single-family to Part 9 buildings for adherence to relevant codes and regulations. Your work will be pivotal in maintaining safety and compliance in the community’s construction projects. Supervisory feedback will keep your efforts aligned with departmental standards and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Validate plans for compliance with building codes
• Issue necessary permits upon regulation fulfillment
• Maintain detailed records and correspondence
• Conduct thorough examinations of construction plans
• Support permit application processes as required
Requirements:
• Diploma in Building Technology or equivalent experience
• Understanding of municipal bylaws and building regulations
• Quick and accurate plan interpretation skills
• Enrollment in corresponding Building Official-in-Training Program
• Valid Driver’s License for British Columbia
