Join the Plan Checking team responsible for ensuring compliance in building applications. Engage in technical and clerical work with a focus on building regulations and codes.
We're hiring for Plan Checker 1 and Plan Checker 2 roles, ideal for candidates with a diploma in Building Technology. Successful individuals will check construction plans, issue permits, and interact with applicants and inspectors. Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and municipal bylaws is essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
• Examine plans for compliance with building codes
• Issue building permits upon meeting requirements
• List and review non-conforming items with applicants
• Answer inquiries concerning regulations and bylaws
• Maintain records and prepare routine correspondence
Requirements:
• Diploma in Building Technology or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of building codes and municipal bylaws
• Competence in interpreting plans and specifications
• Willingness to learn within the Building Department
• Valid British Columbia Driver’s Licence required
Utilize your building knowledge to contribute to our regulatory compliance efforts in the Plan Checking organizational unit.
