• Certification with the CAMRT. Successful completion of CAMRT/BCIT Certificate in Breast Imaging or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Royal Columbian Hospital is a provincial referral hospital (stroke/cardiac/trauma/neurosurgery) located in New Westminster, BC, with 439 acute beds, with nearly 80,000 visits annually. Services include 24/7 emergency, outpatient, ambulatory care and a range of inpatient services which are supported by a range of community services. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project is well under way and is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital’s capacity, beds, and services by about 50 per cent.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Mammography/Bone Densitometry and Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the Diagnostic Mammography Technologist practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as well as utilizing a client and family centered care model and the vision and values of the department within Fraser Health (FH).

The Diagnostic Mammography Technologist performs diagnostic mammography exams and interventional breast procedures a majority of the time, and performs routine screening mammography procedures, ensuring quality patient care. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, entering relevant data into the Radiology Information System (RIS), preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures, operating computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data, monitoring patient during procedures and monitoring equipment performance.
