Role: IT Manager

Job Location: Burnaby, BC (on-site)

Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000/annum

The Role

The IT Manager is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for the execution, stability, and reliability of the organization’s IT operations across on-premises and cloud environments. Reporting to the Director of IT, this role owns day-to-day operational delivery, infrastructure reliability, and technical escalation while ensuring consistent, well documented, and secure IT services. This role is well suited for an experienced IT operations leader who combines strong technical depth with people leadership and accountability for outcomes.

Success in this role is demonstrated through the delivery of stable, predictable IT services with clear ownership and accountability across the organization. The IT Manager proactively reduces reactive incidents by strengthening monitoring, operational discipline, and preventative practices, while establishing mature and effective escalation, incident, and change management processes. Systems and environments are thoroughly documented to minimize reliance on individual knowledge and ensure continuity.

YOUR core responsibilities

IT Operations & Infrastructure Ownership:

  • Own daily IT operations across infrastructure, systems, networks, and end-user services in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, security, and recoverability of core IT services.
  • Lead monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to minimize downtime and business impact.
  • Plan and oversee patching, maintenance, backup, and recovery activities.

Technical Leadership & Escalation:

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Systems Administration and Help Desk teams.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for complex infrastructure and operational issues.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, operational processes, and best practices.
  • Improve troubleshooting discipline, documentation quality, and operational readiness across the IT team.
  • Lead, coach, and support IT operations staff, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear expectations for service delivery, escalation practices, and operational ownership.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and cross training to reduce single points of failure.

Change, Maintenance & Reliability Management:

  • Plan and execute scheduled maintenance and change activities with minimal business disruption.
  • Ensure changes are appropriately tested, documented, communicated, and validated.
  • Maintain accurate and actionable documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, diagrams, and asset inventories.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and internet service providers.
  • Oversee infrastructure and hardware procurement, renewals, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with contractual obligations and service expectations.

Projects & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead IT infrastructure and operations projects aligned with business priorities.
