Position OverviewReporting to the Property Manager, the Building Maintenance & Property Operations Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and overall condition of the building at 570 Dunsmuir, one of Alexander College’s campus locations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is proactive, dependable, and comfortable completing minor repairs, responding to service requests, coordinating contractors, and helping ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high standards, works well independently, and is able to support a busy campus environment with professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine building inspections and complete regular maintenance tasks
- Perform minor repairs including plumbing, drywall, painting, general carpentry, and basic electrical work
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and resolve them independently where possible
- Respond to building maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Coordinate external contractors and service providers for repairs and scheduled work
- Support preventative maintenance programs to help ensure efficient and safe building operations
- Monitor building conditions and proactively identify issues before they escalate
- Assist with general property operations and support a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment
- Communicate with contractors, building users, and management regarding maintenance-related matters
- Coordinate access for contractors and ensure work is completed to expected standards
- Track maintenance requests, service schedules, and related building information using digital systems or property management software
- Report operational concerns, repair updates, and ongoing issues to the Property Manager
- Support building operations at other locations as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High school diploma required
- Minimum one year of experience in building maintenance, facilities, handyman work, or a similar role preferred
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Experience in a maintenance technician, building operator, or general handyman role is strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience using property management software such as Yardi Breeze, or similar platforms, is an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, tenants, staff, and management
- A proactive and hands‑on approach to problem-solving
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Physically able to lift, move equipment, and complete hands‑on maintenance tasks
This is a full‑time position based on 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during regular business hours, excluding a 30‑minute unpaid meal break each day. Flexibility is required, and occasional evening or weekend work may be needed based on operational requirements.
Work LocationThis position is primarily based at 570 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver
, one of Alexander College’s campus locations. The successful candidate may also be required to travel to and work at other properties or locations managed by Seymour Property Management, depending on operational needs.
