Hours per Week: 37.5 hours per week. Given the hours of community recreation facility operations, this position requires scheduling flexibility. The successful incumbent is expected to support after-hours facility emergencies, critical operational calls, and urgent maintenance demands outside of standard business hours to ensure public safety and service continuity.

The City of New Westminster has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, passionate and community-focused individual to manage the Parks and Recreation Department’s complex and diverse recreation facilities and building operations portfolio. As a key member of the Parks and Recreation Department leadership team, the Manager, Recreation Facilities – Building Operations and Maintenance will think beyond immediate operational challenges to ensure buildings remain safe, reliable, sustainable, and optimized to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community.

This position is a unique opportunity to guide long-term facility asset management processes, environmental stewardship and financial sustainability. Grounded in the City's strategic vision, a key component of this role is implementing and advancing the facility-focused initiatives within People, Parks and Play, the City’s 10-Year Comprehensive Plan for Parks and Recreation. You provide strong leadership across functional areas including facility asset management, preventative maintenance and custodial services for the City’s portfolio of community recreation facilities, arenas, and pools.

This role includes both personnel, financial, and building operations management responsibilities to enable the delivery of a wide range of exceptional recreation services. You will also have oversight for the booking of facility spaces and support the administration of facility leases in select buildings within your portfolio.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Recreation Services and Facilities, the successful incumbent will provide direct leadership and oversight to a multidisciplinary team of exempt, unionized and auxiliary employees and contractors including Maintenance Coordinators, Facility Operations staff and specialized service teams. You will work in peer level collaboration with the City’s Civic Buildings and Properties’ Maintenance and Operations team to align and optimize service contracts and maintenance standards across all City facilities where possible, as well as, asset management planning, and capital project planning & management.
