Maintenance & Facilities Manager – Automotive Manufacturing
(Kitchener, ON) area
Base Salary: $120,000–$140,000
Position OverviewThe Maintenance & Facilities Manager leads all maintenance, facilities, and reliability functions for a high‑volume automotive manufacturing plant in the Kitchener ON area. This hands‑on leader oversees a team of 25–30 skilled trades, ensuring protected, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance Leadership — Lead, coach, and develop a team of 25–30 trades (millwrights, electricians, automation techs)
- Preventive Maintenance — Build and execute PM programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Facilities Management — Oversee building systems, utilities, contractors, and facility upgrades
- Automation & Controls — Support troubleshooting and maintenance of PLCs, robotics, CNC equipment, and automated production lines
- Equipment Reliability — Drive root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Safety & Compliance — Ensure all work meets OHSA, ESA, and corporate safety standards
- Budget & Planning — Manage maintenance budgets, capital planning, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships
- Project Management — Lead equipment installations, facility upgrades, shutdown planning, and commissioning activities
- Skilled Trades Background — Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, Electrician, or Automation Technician strongly preferred
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Strong hands‑on expertise in Pneumatics, Hydraulics, CNC machinery, PLC troubleshooting, Automation systems
- Proven ability to lead large trades teams in a union or non‑union environment
- Strong understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance systems
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Assets:
Experience in automotive manufacturing or high‑volume production
