About this role
We are seeking a Lighting and Controls Specialist to join our Technology Division based in our Burnaby head office.
In this role, you will serve as the Lighting and Controls expert, supporting project team with design, product selection, cost optimization and technical guidance. You will work closely with consultants, manufacturers, and internal stakeholders to deliver innovative, energy‑efficient and cost‑effective lighting solutions.
Your responsibilities- Develop and coordinate lighting and lighting controls design, including photometric calculations and simulations
- Create lighting and lighting controls layouts for design‑build and value engineering opportunities
- Review project drawings, specifications and bill of materials to ensure all lighting systems are accurately captured in estimates and project scopes
- Provide technical support and resolve lighting and controls related issues during design, procurement and construction
- Collaborate with manufacturers, representatives, consultants and project teams to identify optimal solutions
- Review and approve lighting and controls purchase orders, submittals and shop drawings
- Lead value‑engineering initiatives and negotiate pricing with suppliers and manufacturers
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, codes and best practices in lighting and controls
- Minimum 5 years of experience in lighting design, lighting control, quotations, electrical consulting or manufacturer representation
- Strong knowledge of lighting control systems including design, programming, and troubleshooting
- Experience in providing lighting and lighting control system design assistance
- Proficiency with lighting design software such as AGI
32, DIALux, Visual or similar tools - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and electrical design documents
- Strong communication, organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Education or certification related to lighting and lighting controls are strong assets

Salary range: $95,000 - $120,000 per year plus a competitive total compensation package. Actual salary will be commensurate with experience, skills and overall match to the position offered.
