Forklift Operator

We are currently seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join a premier team in the Building Materials industry in Burnaby, BC. As a Forklift Operator, you will be the backbone of the yard operations, ensuring that inventory is moved safely and efficiently to support our client's busy distribution schedule. This role is a Temp-to-Perm (TTP) opportunity, perfect for someone looking to secure a long-term career path within Manufacturing & Logistics.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Sit-Down Counterbalance Forklift safely within a busy yard environment.

• Perform heavy manual labour, including the repetitive lifting and carrying of building materials (shingles) weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Conduct daily equipment inspections and safely change propane tanks as required for forklift operation.

• Organize and stack inventory according to safety specifications and site layouts.

• Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks with precision and care.

• Maintain a clean and organized yard to prevent hazards and ensure efficient traffic flow.

• Participate in mandatory safety e-learnings and on-site training sessions.

• Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory tracking.

• Follow all provincial and company-specific health and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications

• Valid Forklift Operator Certification (SDCB).

• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a forklift.

• Previous experience in a yard or outdoor warehouse environment is highly preferred.

• Ability to pass initial safety assessments and complete required e-learning modules.

• Reliable transportation to the Surrey, BC location for early morning shifts.

• Commitment to physical labour and heavy lifting throughout the shift.
