Position: Communications Officer (Women'S Centre) (New Westminster)
Location: New Westminster

Join us in empowering our partner, the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation by enhancing their communication systems to boost the visibility of their impactful programs. We’re looking for a passionate volunteer to manage and elevate the Foundation’s communications, including social media engagement.

Language Requirements:
English Level 4-Advanced. Eligibility:
Open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada only.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and elevate the Foundation’s communications across social media, website, public relations, and content creation.
  • Develop branding guidelines and materials that represent the Foundation’s mission.
  • Assess current communication strengths, uncover opportunities, and identify gaps to improve overall communication strategy.
  • Establish a vibrant social media presence by creating materials and distributing content across various social platforms to enhance audience engagement.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and publishing website content, including the website, newsletter, blog, and other channels.
  • Plan and execute training sessions for staff on innovative communication methods by developing training manuals and leading sessions.
  • Contribute to public relations initiatives, including compiling annual reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Provide two professional references and one personal reference.
  • Complete a language assessment during the initial phone interview.
  • Pass a police check and medical clearance before departure.
  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and the Code of Conduct.
  • Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
  • Verify passport or permanent resident details for travel.

  • Round-trip airfare and visa/work permit costs.
  • Pre-placement, in-country, and reintegration training (along with access to self-directed materials and online resources).
  • Ongoing local support.
