Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, specialty‑qualified registered nurse with a critical care background to join our Level One Trauma Centre. As a member of the Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU), you will provide nursing care to patients requiring advanced cardiac support and other life‑threatening conditions.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of assigned patients.
• Provide nursing intervention and evaluate outcomes.
• Collect information via observation, communication, and physical assessment.
• Write timely, accurate reports including patient and family teaching.
• Communicate and consult with health care team and participate in multidisciplinary conferences.
• Advocate for patients’ rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and information.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and research.
• Serve on nursing and hospital committees for care improvement.
• Provide orientation and ongoing education for staff and students.
• Attend educational programs to maintain clinical competency.
• Evaluate patient care programs and provide feedback on outcomes.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
• Perform other related professional duties as required.

• Graduate of an approved nursing school with current registration as a Registered Nurse (BC College of Nurses and Midwives).
• Completion of Critical Care Level 2 course plus one year’s cardiac surgery experience or two years recent critical‑care experience in an acute‑care facility plus one year of recent cardiac surgery experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Current Basic Rescuer Certificate.
