PositionWe are currently hiring for a Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Burnaby Hospital located in Burnaby, B.C.

In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, and working collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person-centered care, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from a variety of sources using observation, communication, data review and physical assessment. Make nursing diagnoses and implement interventions.
- Collaborate with patients and families to develop care plans and encourage family participation.
- Participate in care and discharge planning, ensuring effective implementation and coordination with the interprofessional team.
- Coordinate nursing care, set priorities, delegate tasks, and make referrals per protocols and standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, licensed practical nurses, Patient Care Coordinators, Clinical Nurse Educators, and other professionals to resolve issues and adjust plans.
- Educate patients and families on illness prevention, health restoration, and maintenance, assessing learning needs and providing demonstrations.
- Plan and discuss referrals with patients, families, and the interprofessional team, initiating appropriate community agency referrals.
- Document assessments, diagnoses, observations, interventions, outcomes, and referrals per standards and procedures.
- Participate in nursing committees, conferences, and councils as assigned.
- Engage in research and quality improvement activities, identifying patient care issues and recommending changes.
- Attend in-service and educational programs, maintaining clinical competence.
- Act as preceptor or mentor for new staff and students, sharing information and participating in orientation.
- Provide feedback on patient care programs, policies, procedures, and equipment effectiveness.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of applicable postgraduate coursework, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
Skills and Abilities- Complete initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate interventions.
