Practical Nursing​/Health Care Assistant Instructor; RN​/LPN; Westminster

Responsibilities

• Instructs curriculum using pre-authorized or Sprott Shaw materials
• Contribute to curriculum maintenance
• Administer assessments and grade student work
• Attend faculty meetings, in-service training sessions, program and college activities
• Supervising students during clinical placements, as needed

• Practical Nursing (PN) Instructor
  • Current, active and unrestricted practicing license as an LPN, NP, RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Adult Instruction Certification (to be completed within two [2] years of the hire date)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent (within the last 5 years) full-time nursing experience (equivalent to full-time hours per year where full-time hours are 1400 per year)
• Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructor
  • Current unrestricted full registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (i.e., completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education, or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references, positive performance evaluations, and student course evaluations)
  • Two (2) or more years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 hours) with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members, and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings
  • Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course available on Learning Hub to be completed as part of orientation/on-boarding
  • Completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility (to be completed within first 3 months of hire)

• Nursing work experience to include:
  • Experience working with older adults with complex health needs
  • Experience or orientation (i.e., shadow shifts) in home support and multi-level/complex care

• Knowledge of MS Office and database systems preferred but not essential

• Registered Nurses: $42.00-$46.00 per hour
• Licensed Practical Nurses: $31.00-$36.00 per hour
• Most new instructors will be placed in the starting range; compensation may be above this range based on qualifications and experience
