The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20 - $67.08 / hour

We are currently hiring for a Relief Part-Time Registered Nurse Clinician, Skin and Wound Care to join our Burnaby Hospital Team.
This position is available until December 2026, or until the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first.

Detailed Overview
In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Fraser Health mission and values, the Nurse Clinician utilizes evidence-informed practice to provide consultation and clinical expertise in skin and wound care and prevention to achieve effective outcomes. Role models direct care skills to staff and students, performs complex wound modalities, and provides information and education to staff and/or patients/families.
Participates in research, policy, quality improvement, and risk management activities. The Nurse Clinician may work with a unit, hospital, program and/or regional focus and may be required to work at multiple sites across Fraser Health.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates expertise and provides clinical leadership in evidence-informed practice related to skin and wound care; reviews literature in the specialty area, consults with experts, collaborates with the interprofessional team, evaluates clinical practice, and participates on regional and provincial committees related to skin and wound care practice.Role models direct patient care skills to staff and students in skin and wound care and provides just-in-time education at the point of care. Coaches, mentors and provides information utilizing clinical evidence, policy, literature and resources, and education theory.Performs identified complex wound modalities as needed and follows up on complex skin and wound cases.Determines education requirements that meet clinical and learner needs, in collaboration with the Manager/Director/Clinical Nurse Educator/Clinical Nurse Specialist; completes learning needs assessments of individuals or groups to assist in determining learning objectives.Develops and revises teaching plans based on identified learner needs, chart audits, patient outcomes, and introduction of new skills/procedures.Delivers learner-centered education to staff and patient/families through presentations, group facilitation and lectures.Evaluates the effectiveness of education programs and consultations to ensure skin and wound care objectives/learning needs are met and identifies opportunities for quality improvement.Plans and schedules education activities and maintains a system for tracking attendance; maintains statistics for reporting and quality improvement purposes.Collaborates with other practice leaders to provide leadership, consultation and performance support to clinical staff, employed student nurses and students to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.Supports staff to plan and carry out patient/family education about discharge planning, illness prevention and health maintenance.Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities by evaluating changes in practice, making recommendations to improve current practices, and conducting quality and safety audits.Arranges and/or provides preceptorships and mentorships for staff and students regarding skin and wound care, as appropriate.Participates in research and special projects; promotes staff awareness and involvement in research activities.Assists the Manager/Director by attending panel interviews, providing recommendations on staff selection, and providing feedback on optimal use of budgetary resources, including recommending wound care products to meet patient goals and reduce time to healing and nursing visits.Assists the Manager/Director in assessing and supporting clinical skill and performance related to skin and wound care, by providing input and coaching staff to help achieve clinical performance goals.Participates in the review, development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed clinical decision support tools/policies.Performs other related…
