Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour.

Job Summary

Registered Nurses with limited experience in Emergency nursing or those still completing required postgraduate coursework are invited to apply. The role provides qualified registered nurses with the opportunity to consolidate their skills by rotating through a specialty nursing unit(s) before or during the completion of applicable postgraduate specialty nursing courses/programs. Successful applicants will be expected to participate in and successfully complete these courses within agreed time‑frames.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and collect information from various sources using observation, communication, data review and physical assessment.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses, develop and evaluate nursing interventions.
  • Collaborate with patients, families and the interprofessional care team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Coordinate nursing care, set priorities, delegate tasks and make referrals as necessary.
  • Assist in care and discharge planning, ensuring effective communication with the Patient Care Coordinator.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance and self‑care.
  • Participate in nursing committees, care conferences, and quality improvement activities.
  • Attend in‑services and other educational programs; maintain clinical competence.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding patient care programs and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM.
  • Completion or willingness to complete the applicable postgraduate specialty nursing course/program.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
